YESAB
has the power to recommend project audits and effects monitoring
to a decision body, under Section 110 of the Yukon Environmental
and Socio-economic Assessment Act (YESAA).
This recommendation can come from a Designated Office, the Executive
Committee, a Panel of the Board or a joint Panel.
If the decision body accepts the recommendation, it must provide
the results to the Designated Office that recommended it. If the
recommendation came from the Executive Committee or a panel, the
results must be provided to the Executive Committee.
After reviewing the results of the project audit or effects
monitoring,
the Designated Office or Executive Committee may provide advice
to the decision body on the basis of those results.
A request for a project audit or effects monitoring of an existing
project may also be made by ministers or first nations. In these
cases, the audit or monitoring is done by the Executive Committee,
which must then report the results to the requestor.
