Studies & Research

The Executive Committee of YESAB may be requested to carry out:

• studies of environmental or socio-economic effects that are cumulative geographically or over time.
• research into any aspect of the assessment of activities.

The requests may come from the federal Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, or the Government of Yukon, or a First Nation.

If the request comes from the Government of Yukon or a First Nation, they must either have the consent of the federal Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, or if they do not, they must agree to pay for the cost of the studies or research.

The results of any studies or research must be reported to the Government(s) or First Nation(s) that requested or consented to them.

The Executive Committee’s report may include recommendations, to which the Government(s) or First Nation(s) must give full and fair consideration.
