Nov 1, 2013 | General, News

Stephen J. Mills, Chair of YESAB gave a presentation to the Select Committee Regarding the Risks and Benefits of Hydraulic Fracturing.  The presentation offered insight and statistics on the YESAA process and the purpose and requirements of YESAA in general.  Mills also informed the Select Committee on the role of YESAB within Yukon’s assessment process and outlined the sources of expertise and knowledge that YESAB uses during an environmental and socio-economic assessment.

To date, YESAB has completed 10 assessments related to oil and gas projects. Some of these have been seismic programs, drilling programs, or flow tests of existing wells. YESAB has also completed one Designated Office evaluation that involved the use of liquefied natural gas and the Executive Committee is currently conducting a screening on another.
