Public Meeting in Dawson City – Placer Mine – Klondike East Bench, the Dome

Mar 7, 2018 | Media Release, News

Join the Dawson Designated Office for a public meeting on the Placer Mine – Klondike East Bench, the Dome (Project Number 2017-0206).

The Proponent is proposing to mine 35 claims along the East Bench of the Klondike River, in an area known as the Midnight Dome. The Project is located within the municipal boundaries of Dawson City and the Traditional Territory of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in First Nation. Project activities are proposed to occur from April 1 to October 31 annually for 10 years. In 2016, the Designated Office assessed project 2016-0118 which was proposed by the same proponent in a similar project location. There are distinct differences between the 2016 proposal and the current proposal under assessment.

The Dawson City Designated Office of YESAB would like to hear from local residents regarding the potential impacts and values affected by this Project. Comments from this meeting will be considered by assessors during YESAB’s evaluation of the Project.
